After parting with Ericsson, for the first time Sony launches two Android smartphone operating system that will be marketed under the Sony brand, the Xperia and Xperia Ion S.

Both were introduced at the exhibition event in the world's most coveted electronics, Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, from December 10 until January 13, 2012.

In the specification, the Xperia and Xperia Ion S has a relatively similar specifications. Both are equipped with a 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and running with the Android 2.3 operating system Gingerbread.

Sony will upgrade the operating system of these two smartphones using the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, in the first quarter of 2012.

Both also have a rear camera pixel size the same, that is 12MP and a front camera which is also the same, 1.3MP. Sony claims, the second smartphone can take pictures in just 1.5 seconds from standby mode.

There are some differences of these two smartphones. The first is on the internal memory, 16GB of Ion Xperia, Xperia whereas S 32GB.

The second difference is in screen size, the Xperia Ion has a 4.6 inch screen, larger than the Xperia S which has a 4.3-inch screen. However, these two smartphones both feature screen technology high definition (HD) with a resolution of 1280x720, which was adopted from the Sony Bravia television display technology.
